Welcome to the Penn State Actuarial Science Club!

Our club helps actuarial students pass actuarial exams and land their dream jobs. We run events to strengthen our students' leadership, networking, professional, and actuarial skills. We aim to continue Penn State's legacy as one of the world's 33 CAEs (Center of Actuarial Excellence) and one of only 19 CAEs in the United States.

"Coming into my freshman year, I didn't know much about actuarial science aside from the fact that it requires a lot of math and has many tests. From the start, the Actuarial Science Club has served as an amazing resource where I can learn more about my future profession and meet people going through the same things as I am. My favorite part of the club is the mentor program because it has made starting my actuarial journey less intimidating. From scheduling advice to mock interviews, my mentor is continually helping me grow and preparing me for the future." "The Actuarial Science club does an excellent job of providing resources to undergraduate students pursuing Actuarial Science. The specific resources that I found to be the most helpful are the resume books and the career fair which were essential in me securing an internship with Highmark Health this summer. The club is also a great way to get to know other students in the program, many of whom are now good friends!" "The Actuarial Science Club removes all obstacles to make finding a job as straight forward as possible. From the resume book to the vast number of company info sessions to the career fair itself, the club provides services that make the whole process practically stress free."
  • Akash Patel

Class of 2021 (Former Club President), Actuarial Science, Harrisburg, PA

  • Bingxin Liu

Class of 2022, Actuarial Science, China

  • Max Nkgare

Class of 2021, Actuarial Science, Botswana

"Beginning the first week of my freshman year, the Actuarial Science Club gave me all the necessary knowledge and resources to succeed in the Career Fair and in classes. I had very little idea of what classes to take, how to prepare for an actuarial exam, how to interview for job positions... the Club's many events and board members were indispensable to the start of my college career. My mentor, who I met through the Club, taught me a lot about the actuarial profession and gave me great advice to land my first internship." "The Actuarial Science club is a great social platform for students. I met many excellent people who are willing to share their experience with me. Meeting other future actuaries and listen to their stories really motivate me to strive for my personal growth." "Joining the Actuarial Science Club is the best decision I have made thus far. I’ve learned to communicate effectively, with rigor and precision. And best of all, I’m part of a community of insightful and interesting people."
  • Roshan Shah

Class of 2024, Actuarial Science, Bucks County, PA

"Coming in as a commonwealth campus student, I didn't know much about the Actuarial Science program and wasn't sure how to get involved. So, I reached out to the executive board, and they were a great inspiration, immediately putting me on the right track. The club from that point till now has served as an invaluable resource where I can develop both technically and professionally. During my freshman year, I got involved with the mentorship program, which allowed me to learn how to ace the career fair, study for exams, and inspire me to start the alumni mentorship program. I also got involved with the executive board, which has been one of my most rewarding experiences in college, allowing me to grow, transform the club, and develop friendships with others who have similar interests. I continue to be involved with the executive board and it has been pivotal to me landing a job in consulting."

"Prudential continues to source top talent from Penn State year after year due to a strong partnership and proven success of recruiting from the Actuarial Science Club. We have become a top sponsor because we recognize the value of investing in the students at Penn State to further develop our pipeline of actuaries. I am always impressed with the Actuarial Science Club's ability to supplement actuarial class lessons with trainings and additional resources so that students can become the best candidates for the actuarial career path." As a recruiter for Aetna, I could not be more excited at the prospect of working alongside such exceptional students and leaders. "While attending Penn State, joining the Actuarial Science Club gave me the opportunity to network and collaborate with many driven students who were eager to learn more about the actuarial field and develop as future professionals. Through my time in the club, I was fortunate to find many mentors, friends, and future co-workers. The Act Sci Club workshops, case competitions, info sessions, and career fair prepared and enabled me to become a strong candidate and land my internships and full-time position. When deciding where to work full-time, I relied heavily on the connections I made through the club. Speaking to former classmates and club members helped me to feel confident that I was joining a program where I could make an impact, enjoy my work, fit with the culture, and develop as a leader. Now as a recruiter, I recognize that Penn State offers an excellent pool of skilled actuarial talent. Being part of the supportive, close-knit Penn State community makes for an easy transition into our actuarial student program. We have hired many PSU actuaries over the years, several of whom are now serving in prominent leadership roles. We at The Cigna Group are eager to be a top sponsor of the Actuarial Science Club, because investing in PSU’s actuarial students gives us the chance to meet, educate, interview, and hire the next generation of leaders for our company." "Highmark Health values the hard work and dedication from the members of Penn State's Actuarial Science Club that transforms them into exceptional actuarial candidates. The club provided technical trainings, resume reviews, and interview workshops that helped me obtain an internship and a full-time offer. Having offices in Pittsburgh, Camp Hill, and Philadelphia, Highmark enjoys finding and keeping local talent. Penn State holds the largest Actuarial specific career fair that we attend. I can always trust that actuarial students at PSU are well prepared for a career at Highmark and are a great fit for our culture." “Munich Re is dedicated to recruiting top talent into our internship and full-time rotational programs. We seek students who demonstrate a strong Actuarial skillset as well as standout growth potential. We’re proud to be a top sponsor at Penn State because of the exceptional level of engagement and academic caliber of the students. We were excited to see the PSU team place in Munich Re’s 10th annual case competition, the MR Cup! Many of our Actuaries, myself included, are alumni from this Actuarial Science program and I’m so proud to see how much it has grown over the years. The expansion is attributed to the dedication of the staff and students, elevating the program and offering diverse opportunities for students to learn and continue their path to Actuarial excellence.”
