Our club helps actuarial students pass actuarial exams and land their dream jobs. We run events to strengthen our students' leadership, networking, professional, and actuarial skills. We aim to continue Penn State's legacy as one of the world's 33 CAEs (Center of Actuarial Excellence) and one of only 17 CAEs in the United States.

Student Testimonials:

  • Erin Studdert

Sophomore, Actuarial Science, Long Island, NY

  • Craig Feaster

    Senior, Actuarial Mathematics, Harrisburg, PA

  • Jonah Wyzomirski

    Junior, Actuarial Mathematics, Pittsburgh, PA

"Coming into my freshman year, I didn't know much about actuarial science aside from the fact that it requires a lot of math and has many tests. From the start, the Actuarial Science Club has served as an amazing resource where I can learn more about my future profession and meet people going through the same things as I am. My favorite part of the club is the mentor program because it has made starting my actuarial journey less intimidating. From scheduling advice to mock interviews, my mentor is continually helping me grow and preparing me for the future." "The Actuarial Science club does an excellent job of providing resources to undergraduate students pursuing Actuarial Science. The specific resources that I found to be the most helpful are the resume books and the career fair which were essential in me securing an internship with Highmark Health this summer. The club is also a great way to get to know other students in the program, many of whom are now good friends!" "The Actuarial Science Club removes all obstacles to make finding a job as straight forward as possible. From the resume book to the vast number of company info sessions to the career fair itself, the club provides services that make the whole process practically stress free."
  • Akash Patel

Senior (Club President), Actuarial Science, Harrisburg, PA

  • Allison Seibert

PSU Class of 2020, Actuarial Science

  • Max Nkgare

    Senior, Actuarial Science, Botswana

"Beginning the first week of my freshman year, the Actuarial Science Club gave me all the necessary knowledge and resources to succeed in the Career Fair and in classes. I had very little idea of what classes to take, how to prepare for an actuarial exam, how to interview for job positions... the Club's many events and board members were indispensable to the start of my college career. My mentor, who I met through the Club, taught me a lot about the actuarial profession and gave me great advice to land my first internship." "The club helped me a lot in my college career. Meeting other actuaries allowed me to have friends in my classes to study and go through the SOA exam process with. I also got to be on the executive board of the club which helped me meet other students not in my classes and help them succeed. The career fair helped me find my internship after my junior year, as well as many other interviews which helped me practice and feel more prepared when interviewing for full-time positions. Without the club I definitely would have felt lost on which classes to take, when to take exams, and how to get a job." "Joining the Actuarial Science Club is the best decision I have made thus far. I’ve learned to communicate effectively, with rigor and precision. And best of all, I’m part of a community of insightful and interesting people."

"Prudential continues to source top talent from Penn State year after year due to a strong partnership and proven success of recruiting from the Actuarial Science Club. We have become a top sponsor because we recognize the value of investing in the students at Penn State to further develop our pipeline of actuaries. I am always impressed with the Actuarial Science Club's ability to supplement actuarial class lessons with trainings and additional resources so that students can become the best candidates for the actuarial career path." "Penn State and the actuarial science club here do a terrific job preparing students for careers as actuaries. That is precisely why Cigna has hired more interns from Penn State than from any other university in consecutive years (5 interns for both the 2019 and 2020 summer programs). Penn State's students are well-rounded with the technical and analytical skills to get the job done alongside the business acumen and communication skills to influence diverse teams and guide the business forward. We have confidence that Penn State gives students the tools they need to Excel in the actuarial profession." "During my time in the Actuarial Science program at Penn State, I saw on a daily basis the motivation, varied skills, and overall acumen that PSU students have to offer. As a recruiter for Aetna, I could not be more excited at the prospect of working alongside such exceptional students and leaders. I encourage all students to take full advantage of the opportunities provided through the Actuarial Science program, from technical development trainings to resume reviews to case competitions to company-sponsored events (especially Aetna’s!), and I can say firsthand that all these elements are fantastic preparation for an actuarial career."
