Penn State prioritizes excellence in its courses by having classes taught by industry experts with over 30 years of industry experience, FSA credentialed actuaries, and PhD scholars.
Every semester, students report about 50 exam passes! With classes teaching towards every SOA exam for an ASA and through the CAS exam MAS-II, students are properly equipped to pass exams. When you come to Penn State, you will be hiring students who have already demonstrated an ability to pass exams and who will continue to do so!
Many actuarial students at Penn State graduate with at least one internship, and some graduate with 3! Earning internships at top companies like Prudential, Highmark, Cigna, and Aetna each year, Penn State students know how to apply their coursework to an industry setting.
Students in the Actuarial Science Club attend professionalism, interviewing, and resume workshops every year to ensure they are fully prepared to work in any corporate environment.

Diversity of Thought

Penn State courses and the Actuarial Science Club provide students with numerous advanced technical skills. Students frequently learn Microsoft Excel, SAS, and R from the ground up. They are then able to apply their technical skills, as many statistic courses at Penn State use tools such as R in linear regression, analysis of variance, and time series. The Actuarial Science Club values these skills, and so offers additional training opportunities such as workshops in VBA. If you are looking for candidates who can take exam knowledge and use it in advanced software, Penn State is the place to be!
Penn State is proud to have a diverse group of students to go with a diverse set of opportunities. Over 15% of our students are from international backgrounds, and the Actuarial Science Club's Student Engagement Team is structured to specifically ensure that all groups are valued and feel welcomed on campus. Additionally, the three ways to major in actuarial science (Mathematics, Statistics, and Business) proves that our students have a diverse set of skills that can meet any business need your company may have.
Being a SponsorThe funds provided by being a sponsor are direct investments back into the students by partnering with companies like TIA, Coaching Actuaries, and ACTEX. These partnerships allow for students to have TIA Skills Courses for technical skills, study materials, and more. Our goal is to ensure that our students' transition to your company is as smooth as possible thank to your sponsorship.
