Information Sessions

Information Sessions for Actuarial Students

All Penn State actuarial information sessions for the 2020 fall semester will be held online.

Holding a company information session is a great way for our actuarial students to learn more about your company.
Below are some tips to successfully connect with our actuarial students.
1.  Schedule an information session by indicating interest on your information session registration form (not through Career Services)
The Director of Corporate Outreach, Taylor Geppert
(psuactuarial@gmail.com), will follow up to confirm:
  • Requested dates/times (1 hour - on the hour).
    • Please plan to stay online after the presentation to answer questions from the general group and then enter into individual breakout rooms with students.
    • If you record the presentation and questions and email Vince the file, we will upload the file to the club website so students who were not able to attend the meeting can watch it.
    • Sunday time slots during the day before the Career Fair fill up quickly so if you would like to maximize attendance, consider hosting an info session in the weeks prior to the Career Fair.
We will assign you a date for your information session after the information session registration form is submitted.

2.  Schedule your information session before your first round interviews
  • Information sessions in the first few weeks of classes get greater attendance.
  • Some employers like to have their info sessions the Sunday before the Career Fair.
    • If you do, please register early because those times fill up quickly.
  • Top Sponsors will get their time without conflicting with another employer, if you register early.
  • Please provide alternate dates/times in case we can’t satisfy your first choice.
  • Post all internship and full-time positions on Nittany Lion Careers, ideally before your information session.

3.  Market your information session
  • Email the Director of Corporate Outreach a logo or a flyer advertising your event.  It will be sent to the Actuarial Science email list.
  • If you do not reach out, your information session will not get advertised well.
  • Career Services doesn't have our email list so they cannot advertise it to actuarial students.
  • Tip: ask former interns who are back on campus to promote your info session!
